The Story Behind Leonardo’s
Our story is rooted in family, tradition, and a deep love for Costa Rica’s heritage. It all began with my grandfather, Leonardo Chavarría — a man who dedicated his life to transporting coffee using traditional oxcarts. He was passionate about oxen and the art of the journey, values that he passed down through generations.
From him, I inherited that same admiration for oxcarts, which inspired the name Leonardo’s — a tribute to both my grandfather and my son, Leonardo Salas.
As a family, we’ve worked hand in hand to bring a dream to life: the creation of Hotel Heliconias Nature Inn & Hot Springs and our beloved Leonardo’s Restaurante. Together, we’ve built a space where nature, comfort, and tradition come together — a place where guests can feel the warmth of home, enjoy authentic flavors, and connect with the soul of our land.
